A Historic Event for Texarkana.

Save the date for June 26–27, 2026, because the Texarkana Airshow will bring high-flying excitement to the airport in this southwest Arkansas city. As someone who loves seeing new things and fun things in my area, I can’t tell you how excited I am about this event. Not only is it the first of its kind in Texarkana in thirty years, but it’s also going to alternate with the Barksdale Defenders of Liberty Air Show in Bossier City, Louisiana. That means we get a major airshow in our region every single year, and that’s a big win for families looking for fun, high-quality events nearby. Barksdale will happen in odd numbered years and Texarkana will be the even years, starting in 2026!

Why airshows are perfect for families.

Our family enjoys learning, adventuring, and experiencing new things. An airshow is the perfect event for the whole family. As a resident of Texarkana, I am always happy to see new, fun things come to our area and this airshow is no different. It’s a great opportunity to learn about some incredible aircrafts, check out potential career paths for high school age kids, non stop fun for younger kids as they look up, down, and around at all of the planes, motorcycles, and cars.

Reasons to take your family to an airshow.

  • Educational value: Airshows are a great way to introduce kids to the world of aviation, science, physics, and even military history. You’re not just watching planes, you’re learning about them too. Plus, there will be booths set up from different military branches and some STEM focused activities sponsored by local colleges.
  • Sensory thrills: There’s something amazing about watching jets streak across the sky, feeling engines rumble, and seeing the planes twist and turn. It’s a full sensory experience that sticks with you.
  • Outdoor fun: Airshows are a great way to get outside and enjoy a full day of screen free fun. Whether you’re checking out bikes, tasting barbecue, walking around planes, listening to music, or just taking in the sights of the festival, it’s a full day of outdoor excitement.
  • Patriotic spirit: Airshows bring that American spirit and pride out in everyone, through the music, the military honors, and the planes themselves. Bonus – this airshow is happening during the America 250th celebration window!
  • Great tastes: The Texarkana Airshow will feature a variety of local and traveling food truck as well as a huge barbecue competition. There will be no shortage of delicious food while you enjoy your day at the show.

What You’ll See at The Texarkana Airshow.

This won’t be just any small town airshow, the Texarkana Airshow is pulling out all the stops (that they can) and bringing a full day of action packed excitement, fun, food and things to do. The show will continue to grow each year. Here’s a sneak peek at what to expect the first year:

Aerial Performances (June 27th).

The Texarkana Airshow will bring all types of aerial excitement during the show. The show is being managed by Schultz Airshows, and the air boss will be David Schultz. There will be performances by vintage aircrafts, historic military planes, unique planes and more. You will want to stick around to see all the stunts and surprises in store. Be sure to follow the airshow social media pages for announcements about the performers!

Texarkana Airshow Barbecue Competition.

This isn’t just any cook-of, it’s a state semi-annual barbecue competition sanctioned by the Champions BBQ Alliance. Pit masters from all over will bring their best brisket, ribs, and secret sauces to Texarkana. Trust me, your taste buds are in for a wild ride. The barbecue booths will be set up for both days of The Texarkana Airshow.

Harley Davidson Bike Show.

Rev your engines! The Texarkana Harley Davidson Bike Show is going to be a can’t-miss highlight. Expect chrome, custom paint jobs, and maybe a few surprises from local and regional riders. There will be a trick riding show, stunt bike riding, and a special “ride on the runway” event where bikers can collect a digital badge while riding ON the Texarkana Airport runway! Stay tuned for more details.

Luxury Car Show & Ride-Alongs with Precision Exotics.

Car-loving families will love this! Precision Exotics will be on site offering rides in Lamborghinis and McLarens. You’ll have the chance to check out some seriously cool luxury and exotic sports cars, and maybe even buckle in for the ride of a lifetime. (The rides cost an additional fee, but there is no fee to look at the vehicles).

Food Trucks & Vendors.

Food trucks will be on hand to serve all kinds of food and delicious snacks. There will also be a variety of vendors for you to browse and shop while you’re there. Don’t forget about the barbecue competition too.

The Texarkana Airshow: Live Music.

There will be a pre- event concert at Harley Davidson on June 26th. Plus, live music throughout the day on June 27th and a main concert happening at night on the 27th. The live music will begin at 12 PM and here’s the line-up!

Learning Opportunities.

The Texarkana Airshow will have learning opportunities for all ages with representatives from local colleges, the Texarkana Aviation Mechanics program, and more.

Family Fun Zone.

Younger kids won’t be left out, there will be some activities for them as well. From hands on learning, to arts and crafts, there will be ways to keep the little ones happy and engaged too.

Run the Runway 5K.

One more really unique event coming for the Texarkana Airshow is a 5K race called Run the Runway! All proceeds benefit For the Sake of One, a nonprofit supporting foster, adoptive, and kinship families in our community. What makes this race extra special is that you’ll actually get to run ON the runway that will be used later for the airshow! Don’t worry, there won’t be any planes flying when you’re racing. But, the route will take you right by where the planes will be parked. The race is at 7 AM on the day of the airshow (6.27.26).

The Texarkana Airshow: City Passport.

I am so excited to share that as a perk of buying your tickets to The Texarkana Airshow, you’ll get a special city pass for Texarkana! It will be valid at participating businesses on both sides of the city and these businesses have some pretty great deals and specials lined up for you! Tips for enjoying the Texarkana Airshow.

If this is your first airshow, you’re in for a treat. It can be daunting to think about spending all day outdoors at an event, but the Texarkana Airshow will have nonstop action and excitement to keep everyone entertained all day long. For families with younger kids, I’ve got you covered. Here are some tips for attending an airshow with kids:

  • Bring ear protection: The jets and planes can be loud, especially for little ears. Ear muffs or foam earplugs are a must.
  • Hydration is key: Pack refillable water bottles to keep everyone cool and hydrated.
  • Stroller-friendly zones: Look for stroller-accessible pathways and shady spots.
  • Sunscreen, hats, and snacks: You’ll be outside for several hours, so come prepared!
  • Bring chairs: You’ll want to bring lawn chairs or a blanket to sit on to enjoy the show later at night. An option is to leave the chairs in your car until later, you can always take the shuttle back to your car and then back to the show.
  • Arrive early: Parking and good viewing spots go quickly, so be sure to arrive early. Tip – book you parking pass in advance and be ready to ride the shuttle from Four States Fair over to where the airshow is at the airport.
  • Bring a few things to do: For the younger ones, it may help to bring along a few small toys or activities. Airplane sticker books or activity books make a great option. PS – look for the paper airplane activity booth!

Please note: coolers are NOT allowed at the airshow. Outside food and beverages (other than water) will not be allowed either.
